”As a woman, you are powerful. Birth is of course only one of many amazing pieces of being female, but it is unique in some very key ways…it is a time in a woman’s life that requires physical, spiritual, and emotional strength. It tests the foundation of who we believe we are as women, and challenges our beliefs about our own power.” I enjoy working with families from all different backgrounds and interests, and am more than happy to support you no matter where you choose to give birth: hospital, home, birth center. This is your body, your birth, and your baby. I will support your choices.

Like us on Facebook!Maria Guadalupe AprezaMy name is Maria Apreza I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. I spent most of my childhood running in cornfields and exploring nature; daydreaming about having a big family myself one day. Today I have four beautiful children. Being a doula is without a doubt one of my main callings in life.
I am passionate about immigrant& women’s rights. I also volunteer my services through Open Arms Perinatal Services. A local non-profit, who provides doulas free of charge to low income women of color. I recognize childbirth as a powerful experience that the mother will always remember; I approach birth as a natural process, rather than a medical issue from which women need to be “delivered”. Women have been birthing for thousands of years, and by listening to her own body a woman can draw on natural wisdom and primal instincts to achieve a meaningful birth experience. Giving birth is something women instinctively know how to do; we just don’t know that we know. Our fears, memories, perceptions, imaginations, and others’ horror stories, have “erased” our memories of how to birth. I strive to provide resources and facilitate an environment for my clients to learn, grow, explore and research how, where, and with whom they will choose to give birth. We will explore together how you can prepare for the kind of birth experience you want, and I will support you in helping to realize that experience on the day of your baby's birth. |

Birth is about making mothers ~ strong,
competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength. "
